The Nature Club Dine and Discover: Mushrooms
Mushrooms: Common, Consumable, and Kooky with Rose Guerra
There’s just something whimsical about mushrooms that makes people smile, but what most folks don’t realize is the huge role fungi have played in the evolution of life on Earth. Scientists are making fresh discoveries about how plants and animals both depend on fungi to survive, including the “Wood Wide Web” of fungus that trees use to communicate with and support each other. Rose will discuss these topics as well as basic mushroom ID techniques, common mushrooms in the Atlanta area, common edible mushrooms, and some of the strangest mushrooms to be found in our area. Rose is a professional nature educator with a passion for learning all things nature. She earned her Georgia Wild Mushroom Food Safety Certification in 2022, but celebrates all mushrooms, edible or not!
Attend in-person at 7pm in the CNC Plaza Conference Room and bring a dish to share for the potluck. Make new friends and connections at Nature Club while learning all at the same time. Rose’s presentation will begin at 7:30pm.
$10 general public / $5 CNC Members (Ages 16+); Advanced Registration Required by Wednesday, March 27.
