Have you been looking for an opportunity to learn more and meet others who want the same? Come to Dine and Discover and spend your evening learning and socializing with like-minded folks. Topics will change each month – if you have suggestions we’d love to hear them - Email us at adprograms@chattnaturecenter.org. Dates: We meet the 4th Thursday of the month. We will not be meeting in November or December – we’re all too busy anyway! Times: We’ll gather at 7:00pm – the program will begin at 7:30. We expect to be done between 9:00 & 9:30pm Place: We will meet in the Plaza Conference Room at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Whenever possible our programs will include some indoor learning and some outdoor exploration. Cost: FREE for CNC Docents, CNC Volunteers & Master Naturalist Students and Graduates, $5 CNC Members, $10 Non-Members What to Bring: a vegetarian dish to share! Come learn about Sketching and Journaling to capture what you see in the great outdoors. Brush up on your skills or try your hand for the first time Thursday June 24 - Astronomy:Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight….. Quit wishing you knew more about the night sky and come learn what you’re looking at and how to find more. Thursday July 22 - Bees & Bee Keepers:BBBUUUZZZZZZZZZ – Correct! This month is all about honey bees. How they live, eat and make wonderful honey. Thursday August 26 - Bats:Is it true, if you are bitten by a bat you will turn into a vampire? Do bats really nest in your hair? Join us to learn all about bats, the misunderstood creature. This is your chance to determine fact from fiction. It is our hope to net a bat or two so we can see how they look. September 23 – River ProtectionThe Chattahoochee River is part of our daily lives. Come and learn more about how this natural resource affects the world around you and what you can do to learn more about its preservation October 28 – Trees & ForestsAs the weather cools and the leaves develop into a rich canopy of colors, join us for a celebration of the Spirit of the Trees. Lear From Lisa Cole, CNC Horticulturist, as you explore the ancient stories, legends, and myths surrounding some of our more common trees and learn simple ways to identify them in the forest. Tools required: an open mind, a childlike curiosity, and a belief in magic. |
