Family Canoe Day

canoe 101Get your feet wet with our canoe guides on Beaver Pond! This 1 ½ hour introduction to canoeing is great for first time paddlers, families with young kids, or adults coming back to the sport. We’ll spend extra time going over paddling techniques and equipment, but will also provide races, games and water squirters for those hot summer mornings. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the nature center grounds afterwards. The CNC provides all equipment for participants.  Ages 5+; $15 General Public/$10 Members (price per person); Registration required the Thursday before each program.

Labor Day Paddle

Artists in the Wild

Artists in the Wild (3)Roswell Fine Arts Alliance is partnering with the CNC to present Artists in the Wild, plein air artists spread out over the CNC’s most picturesque locations. Mingle amongst the artists while they paint scenes under the fresh air. Visitors are welcomed to observe their work, ask questions and enjoy the final product.

Homeschool Science Monday

springbreakgardenfunJoin us for our first Homeschool Science Monday as we learn about composting and the critters that  turn organic matter into nutrient soil.  Discover more about the Three Sister Garden that some native people used to help balance the needs of crops.  Find out how the CNC manages the Unity Garden through a variety of natural methods.  Explore the Garden to discover what is seasonally growing and see plants in various parts of their life cycle. Try out this activity at home before September 12th.  Modify to meet your child’s educational needs.

Join us in the Nature Exchange monthly for themed programming designed with your homeschool learner in mind.  Our knowledgeable volunteers and staff, 127 acres, and resources are here to help you expand and enhance your curriculum.  This station-learning format is open to ages 5 -13.  Enjoy a mini-lesson followed by hands-on activities and take-home projects that connect month to month. Woodland Restoration Project

Restoration Day(1)Come help us restore the woodlands. Outdoor Skills Day

Canoeing, camping outdoorand more! Outdoor Skills Day is here to help you enjoy being outside this fall by teaching you some basic outdoor skills, whether you are new to the outdoors or a seasoned scout. Local partners will be exhibiting and will be ready to share their expertise with you through mini-clinics. Plan an outdoor adventure this fall after you attend this fun event.

Pee-Wee Naturalist Fall Series

peeweenaturalist2One of the most beautiful seasons at the CNC is autumn. Come change and grow with your little ones as we understand how nature is preparing for the colder weather. This is a perfect way to expand your knowledge about Mother Earth and all of the life in between as we hike outdoors, make crafts, create new friends and have an up-close experience with one of our rehabilitated animals. Family Yoga with Roswell Yoga Life

Join us for a fun and meditative practice that includes partner and group poses.  This 60-minute, all ages/all levels yoga class is a great activity to bring friends and family together to celebrate summer.  Then stick around and enjoy the beauty of the CNC grounds.

Fall Break Frolics in the Unity Garden

image-145September is a great time to head up to visit the Unity Garden and enjoy some fall frolics. Visit us during Fall Break and catch a daily guided tour of the Unity Garden and learn all about produce, chickens, compost and more. The produce grown in this special garden is donated to North Fulton Community Charities.

Monthly, September to May.

Harvest on the Hooch

Join us for this unique Farm to Table Garden Fest complete with tastings prepared by our favorite local restaurants and caterers.  Harvest on the Hooch will allow you to enjoy samplings of local craft beers and wine, bluegrass music, games, alpacas and other surprise farm guests!  Supporting the Unity Garden through this unique evet helps those in need by providing fresh produce to the Food Pantry at North Fulton Community Charity. Halloween Hikes

Friday and Saturday, October 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th – 7:00 pm

A Family Event you won’t want to miss! If you are searching for a unique Halloween adventure, we have the program for you. Take your child on a well-lit hike through the forest to meet woodland creatures and hear about their lives. It’s the perfect non-scary alternative to traditional Halloween events and a VERY important fundraiser for CNC!

CNC Members may purchase tickets in advance beginning on October 1st at the Visitor Services Desk in the Discovery Center. CNC is open Monday – Saturday from 10 am—5 pm and Sunday from Noon – 5 pm

Ticket Sales begin at 6:30 pm each night and end at 8:30 pm for the General Public (advance tickets are not available)

Meet over Forty Fine Arts Artisans,  Artisans of the Farm and Kitchen and Instrumental Artisans – all while supporting local crafts-persons and Fair Trade.  Our market contains local vendors selling their hand-made, eco-friendly goods for your holiday gift giving.  These skilled entrepreneurs make unique items that you won’t find in retail stores.  Buy local this Holiday Season and help our economy! Avoid crowded malls.

Meet talented entrepreneurs and local vendors selling holiday gifts galore!  Last year we had a wide variety of vendors and many of them will be returning again this year. Visit our Nature Store for unique eco-friendly gifts, fun nature toys and games, nature related books perfect for you and your favorite nature lovers.  You can also purchase gift memberships to CNC for your friends and family!  Nature Exchange Traders can find a fun gift for parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters!

PLEASE CARPOOL! Free parking, but limited spaces, please help us and the earth by carpooling!  Some vendors only take cash or check.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
If a class is cancelled for any reason you will receive a full refund. If you wish to cancel your reservation, please contact our office at least six business days prior to your scheduled program. $10 of your registration fee will be retained by CNC. You will receive confirmation when we receive your cancellation. If you do not receive confirmation within one business day, we have not received your cancellation. No refunds will be given for cancellations made fewer than 6 business days prior to your scheduled program. Refunds will be paid by check, please allow 4 – 6 weeks.
