Each trip is led by a CNC naturalist and offers a unique introduction to the ecology of the Chattahoochee River. Your naturalist will enlighten you as to the cultural and natural history of the river, citing important ecological relationships and environmental issues that affect this endangered river while allowing you to enjoy the peaceful qualities of the River.

Canoe Guides are all CPR/First Aid Certified and are experienced paddlers and naturalists. Don’t worry if you are new to canoeing – CNC provides all equipment (canoe, paddles, and personal flotation device (PFDs)) for participants.
These trips are suitable for both beginning and advanced paddlers (ages 6 and up.)

Birding Canoe Trip
Saturday, May 12, 7:30 – 11:30am; $40 Non-Members/$30 Members (price per person and includes admission CNC.)
Have you been looking for an extended canoe trip with CNC? Well, here it is! Join CNC naturalist Alicia Evans and Rebecca Byrd from the Atlanta Audubon Society on a canoe trip along the Chattahoochee. Our trip will focus specifically on birds in the area and exploring the hidden backwaters along the river – a treat for birders of any skill-level!

Early Morning Canoe Trips
June 2, July 6, and August 3 ; 8am – 11:00am, $30 General Public/$25 CNC Members
An early morning paddle on the ‘Hooch is the perfect way to start your Saturday. Join CNC river guides as you explore the Chattahoochee during the cooler morning hours. You will have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife that are up early to beat the summer heat. Early morning paddles are also the perfect opportunity to catch the river in the fog – a truly beautiful sight.

Date Night Canoe Trip
Friday, June 21, Arrive as early as 4:30pm (Trip at 6pm), Adults Only, $30 General Public/$25 CNC Members, Advance Registration Required
Take a night off as you enjoy the beautiful scenery the Chattahoochee River has to offer. Date night is designed exclusively for adults looking to get away for the evening, relax and connect to the river and its surroundings. Participants are invited to arrive early and stay a bit later to enjoy the grounds and trails of the Nature Center. Bring a picnic dinner with a bottle of wine to enjoy before or after your trip. This is the perfect setting for a first date, celebrating a special anniversary or just to catch up with a close friend. Canoe trip will end approximately at 8:30 and participants are invited to relax on the grounds till 9:30 PM.

Private Canoe Excursions
Ages 6 – Adult, Advance Registration Required at least 2 weeks in advance
A private canoe excursion gives your group the exclusive attention of our naturalists. It’s a great opportunity for groups who want to spend time together while exploring the Chattahoochee River. Trips can be arranged to fit your schedule and can accommodate large and small groups.

Canoeing 101 at CNC

It’s the season to get on the water and what better way to get prepared then signing up for a Canoeing 101 program! If you are ready to paddle but not sure where to start then this is the perfect experience for you. Join us to discover the basics of canoeing including boat basics (parts of the boat, the correct way to enter and exit, paddling strokes, etc.) and basic safety procedures. Canoe guides will help you learn basic paddling techniques for your time on the water. After instruction with our Canoe Guides, you will have time to enjoy paddling on one of CNC’s ponds in order to practice your new skills.

This program is suitable for beginning paddlers (ages 5 to adult.)

  • $15 General Public/$10 Members (price per person); To receive the member rate you must join at the family level or higher.) Book a third seat in a canoe for ½ off!
  • Each Canoe Day can accommodate between 18 – 29 participants
