Pop-Up Tomato and Pepper Sale

Stop by CNC to shop for multiple classic and unique varieties of tomatoes and peppers. Varieties include slicing, cherry tomatoes, and heirloom quality tomatoes, as well as sweet and hot peppers. The plants available are all grown in the Unity Garden so they are great for this area.
All plants will be in 2 inch pots and are priced at $3 per plant. They will be set up outside of the Discovery Center. Make your selections and then step inside to complete your purchase. Admission to CNC is not required to shop.
Sweet Banana Peppers: Heirloom variety produces large pointed banana peppers, 6-7 inches long. Mild yellow color will ripen to red when left on the plant, a favorite for pickling.
Carmen Pepper : Delicious sweet Italian pepper, best when allowed to ripen to fully red. Excellent when roasted or grilled and in salads.
Ace Bell Pepper: Early producing and high-yielding standard bell pepper. Limited plants available.
California Wonder Bell Pepper: Heirloom variety, produces delicious, blocky, thick-walled bell peppers. A long-time favorite.
Jalapeno Peppers :
Nadapeno: Very mild, all the flavor of a jalapeno pepper without the heat. Limited plants available.
Early Jalapeno: early season, traditional jalapeno pepper
Jalafuego: High-yielding plants with large fruits that mature later in the season.
Large Red Cayenne: Large, 5 inch peppers are often curled and twisted, easily dried for winter use. Caution: use rubber gloves when cleaning peppers to avoid skin burn from the pepper juice!
New Mexican Chili Peppers: Known as Hatch Peppers when grown in the Hatch Valley region of New Mexico. Long-time favorite in the south west. Earthy flavor and can be as hot as a jalapeno.
Beefsteak varieties: Better Boy (limited quantity) and Super Beefsteak; both produce big, beautiful, red tomatoes.
German Johnson: Pink heirloom variety, similar to a Brandywine tomato. Limited quantity.
Martha Washington: hybrid tomato with pink heirloom quality but more adaptable.
Cherokee Green: Developed from Cherokee Purple, a green tomato with bold, acidic flavor. Limited quantity.
Traditional: Heirloom variety, classic roma tomato great for paste. Compact determinate plants.
Granadera: Hybrid variety for high-yield and disease resistance. Great for sauce and salsa. Compact determinate plants. Limited quantity
Mountain Fresh: Determinate, or bushy, plant produces beautiful red slicing tomatoes with out the need to steak or trellis.
Wisconson 55: Long-time popular variety originally developed by University of Wisconson in the 1940’s. Produces flavorful slicing tomatoes.
Sungold Cherry: Super sweet, bright orange cherry tomatoes make a delicious treat. Vigorous plants will yield early and continue throughout the season.
Bigdena: Vigorous plants produce uniform slicing tomatoes and very high yields. Great variety for greenhouses or tunnels because they can produce fruit without pollination. Limited quantity.
