Art in Nature rising 2nd - 5th Grades

Calling all natural artists! Art in Nature will allow budding artists to test different art forms and connect their creativity to nature. This camp is open to Barn Owls (rising 2nd and 3rd graders) as a 1-week session, and to Barred Owls (rising 4th and 5th graders) as a 2-week session. Topics in Art in Nature may include weaving with natural materials, nature sketching, nature photography, and creative writing.

How big are the groups?

Art in Nature groups are signed up based on a 1:9 counselor to camper ratio and generally have 18 campers and 2 counselors. In rare cases, we will increase the ratio to a maximum of 1:10.

What’s the average day like?

Art in Nature program hours are from 9AM-3:45PM. The camper day is split into 6 activity periods, lunch inside Kingfisher Hall, and 2 snack times. Activity periods vary by age groups and include making dreamcatchers and bird kites, nature weaving, splash painting, and so much more. Educational content varies based on the session theme.

Nature Journal

Art in Nature campers will keep their own nature journals, to be filled with short stories, sketches, poems, or observations. Campers will enjoy some quiet time daily for journaling and create their own camp story using a medium of their own choosing.

Dream Catchers

Art that connects us to history! Art in Nature campers will get a chance to create their very own dream catchers completely out of found materials. Gathering their supplies on CNCs walking trails, all while learning about this ancient Native American tradition, makes this activity one to remember!
