Photo Contest Details

Do you see silliness in a swallowtail hanging upside down? What about joy in a Julia longwing flapping through the air? Show us butterflies through your lens this summer through our weekly photo contest. Submit your entries by posting your favorite photo to Instagram then follow and tag CNC @chattnaturecenter! Winners will be selected each week, and will win a pair of tickets to CNC.

The year’s most popular exhibit is back for its 7th summer. Get up close and personal with hundreds of native butterflies surrounded by colorful nectar plants. Photo opportunities abound, be sure to bring your camera. Nectar sticks will be provided, but please feel free to BYOS (Bring your own Stick). You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase nectar and host plants to start your own butterfly garden or supplement your existing garden. 

THE DETAILS

>> Included with general admission and free to CNC Members. Visitors must purchase admission tickets in advance, which include a date and time to visit the center. Members will also be required to make a reservation for their visit.

>> We will not be able to accommodate walk ups at the encounter.

>> The date and time on your admission ticket will double as your designated time to visit the encounter. 

>> To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our visitors, we are drastically reducing the capacity of our outdoor Butterfly Encounter tent to ensure space for social distancing. 

>> Center-wide policies and procedures have been implemented to offer the best experience possible. They can be viewed on the Plan Your Visit page.

>> During inclement weather (including rain, excessive wind, and/or thunder) the encounter may close temporarily for safety reasons.

>> Do you have questions or comments? We want to hear from you! Please reach out to j.pearce@chattnaturecenter.org

Have you ever wanted some one-on-one time with butterflies?  Join CNC for a family-friendly morning with exclusive access to CNC’s Butterfly Encounter, where you can enjoy a light breakfast, experience several species of butterflies, and explore the grounds prior to opening. Ages 4+; $25 general public/$15 CNC members (price per person). Register by July 9 (limited spaces).
