We connect you with nature Hundreds of activities for all ages

Whether it’s hiking, canoeing, or just taking a stroll, CNC has something for everyone. With 127 acres on the Chattahoochee River, the possibilities for fun with nature are infinite! Learn all about your backyard with the only Nature Exchange in the Southeast, or explore the birds of prey in the aviaries of the Wildlife Walk. Bring the family, have a picnic, and make a day of it!

Five wooded hiking trails cover beautiful Georgia Piedmont forest and can easily make visitors feel that they are far away from the city. All trails feature an abundance of plant and wildlife, year-round birding, and are perfect for beginners and experienced hikers.

We’ve partnered with American Adventure Park Systems and Historic Banning Mills to bring you an experiential nature adventure in the trees! See nature from a different perspective and get a bird’s eye view of the beautiful Chattahoochee Nature Center from the tree canopy.

The Wildlife Department at the Chattahoochee Nature Center focuses on education and rehabilitation. Dozens of species of native Georgia raptors and reptiles call CNC home.

CNC is proud to be involved with the protection, restoration and safeguarding of the many rare and endangered plant species of Georgia. Whether your interest is in gardening, horticulture, education, or science, CNC will keep you engaged with nature.

During a guided canoe trip, your naturalist will enlighten you on the cultural and natural history of the river. You’ll learn about important ecological relationships and environmental issues that affect this endangered river, while enjoying its peaceful qualities.

Nature Store

From toys and tees to field guides and snacks, you’ll surely find the perfect souvenir or gift to take home. Best of all, your purchase supports the Center’s educational programs, resident wildlife, and continued operation. Don’t forget about our native bird seed sale!

Things To Do
  • We got married this past weekend at CNC! We got so many compliments on our choice of venue, the grounds are beautiful and it is just such a unique place! Andrea and Sara were fabulous to work with! We are so happy with CNC and we can’t wait to visit again in the future!

  • Love this place and all the nature trails. It’s a perfect way to get outside and get some sun. They added a zipline course in the center and it’s a lot of fun!

    Rochelle Nicole
  • We had so much fun! Love this place! We were there for 2 hours and could have stayed longer! If it’s summer time plan ahead and bring water, snacks, and bug spray!! I’m really glad I got a membership because we will be going back often! Great for all ages!

  • This hidden treasure of the Atlanta suburbs is a great place to explore and learn about the area’s aquatic ecosystem, birds of prey (hawks, owls, eagles), and even host an event or party! The staff is friendly and passionate about teaching.

    Jeffrey Perren
  • This semi-hidden gem is a delight for all ages. There are plenty of trails, of varying lengths, as well as ponds, bird exhibits, a beaver pond/exhibit, and more. A picnic area is available for days with nice, or not so nice weather, and there are always activities scheduled for all ages.

For young nature lovers, be sure not to miss the nature exchange and microscope downstairs in the main building! Further, there are fish, and plenty of animals being rehabilitated that the staff will usually have out to talk about. If you have inquisitive kids or are one yourself at heart, you should get an annual membership. It quickly pays for itself!

  • I have been coming here since I was a kid. Now that we’ve moved back to the area, I bring my daughter. We love it! They now have a homeschool program that we enjoy too.

    Erin Charisse
  • I love this place! Lots to do and see for adults and kids alike. The presentations at the pavilion are so informative and entertaining. The grounds are beautiful. Great gift shop, too! Get a yearly membership, it is definitely worth it!

  • The Chattahoochee Nature Center is worth a visit. Lots to do and see! The trails and animals were wonderful. I was thoroughly impressed with the knowledge of the staff. They have a great educational value, great for kids. Any place that makes learning new things fun for children, I’ll happily go to again. Prices seem a little high per person but I know it’s going towards a good cause.
